My work emerges from a deep connection to Irish traditional music, a living, oral tradition that binds people together through its communal spirit and unspoken intimacy. Irish music is not merely heard; it is experienced in the moment, demanding the full attention of both the musician and the listener. This unforced, natural gathering around sound and story has long fascinated me, and it sits at the heart of my video practice. 
This semester, I have been exploring how this ethos can translate into film. I’ve drawn inspiration from Irish film artists such as Louis Marcus, whose work captures not just the surface of Irish culture, but its rhythms, silences, and gestures. His influence has guided me in seeking a visual language that mirrors the oral, improvisational nature of the music I love. 
This practice has allowed me to immerse myself in learning the technical language of videography and editing. These tools allow me to translate sound and gesture's nuances into moving images.  With each piece, I aim to evoke the quiet intensity of a shared tune passed between players: something intimate, immersive, and ingrained in tradition.
